Gerald S. "Jerry" Swenson, 65, of Antioch, Calif, and formerly of Sioux City died Dec. 8, 1996 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Antioch.

Mr. Swenson was born Sept. 18, 1931, at Brewster, Minn. He moved to Sioux City in 1938 and graduated from Leeds High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

In 1955, Mr. Swenson moved to California where he first was employed by Hancock Oil and later by Shell Oil Co. and Criterion Catalyst. He was a machinist.

Mr. Swenson was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley B. Swenson; four sons, Kenne Swenson of St. George, Utah, Chris Swenson of Palm Springs, Calif., Sgt. Randy Swenson of Lacey,. Wash., and Eric Swenson of Antioch;; a daughter, Connie Williamson of Alvin, Texas, his mother, Alberta Swenson of Sioux Falls; and a sister, Betty Guffy of Sioux Falls; a brother, James Swenson of Anaheim, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Dec. 11 at Antioch United Methodist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Higgins Funeral Home at Antioch.
