Vertin T. Budde, 91, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Marvin Boes officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa, with the Rev. James C. McAlpin officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service 7 p.m., at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Mr. Budde was born July 17, 1905, in Granville, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Mary C. (Engels) Budde. He married Viola A. Williams on July 14, 1933, in Winner, S.D. He worked as a farmhand on a thresing crew and for the Works Project Administration. He also worked for Roberts Dairy for 20 years, retiring around 1965.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was also a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and had been a Boy Scout leader with the church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Benicia, Calif.; two daughters and their husbands, Joice and Virgil Fowler of South Sioux City and Marlene and William Moes of Dakota City; 12 grandchildren, Michael Kuhlman, Connie Weyrich, Kay Jay and Cindy Vavra, Sherri Koch, Taryn Budde, Terry Fowler, Lisa Watters, Amy Jensen, and Jennifer, Heather, and Lindsey Moes; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Sargent of Rapid City, S.D.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Marie Magdeline Vavra and Francis Mary Budde; and a sister, Irene Tracy.
Pallbearers will be Norman Focht, Gary Mouw, Marv Budde, Todd Jensen, Jerome Vavra, and Terry Fowler.
