Marian H. Nelson

Marian H. Nelson, 89, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gerald Kapanka officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson was born Nov. 4, 1907, in Wimslow, England, the daughter of Robert and Mary Jane (Huffa) Mottram. She graduated from Sioux City Central High School. She married John Ward on July 21, 1932. He died on Feb. 28, 1940. She married Gustav A. Nelson on Aug. 21, 1944. He died Oct. 7, 1965.

She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, the Girls of '68, and the Calvary Golden Age Club.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, John E. and Jane Ward of Sioux City and Donald G. and Linda Ward of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George; and four sisters, Mary Mottram, Kathleen Gordon, Gwendolyn Burg, and Majorie Bortle.

Memorials made be made in her name to Calvary Lutheran Church.
