Barbara L. Bailey

Barbara L. Bailey, 79, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at a Sergeant Bluff care center.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Visitation Will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mrs. Bailey was born April 13, 1917, in Neodesha, Kan., the daughter of August and Grace (Petty) Miller. She attended school in Shawnee Mission, Kan., graduating from Shawnee Mission High School.

She married Alvin E. Williams, who died Oct. 12, 1930. She married Paul D. Willoughby, who died May 20, 1944. She married Frank G. Bailey on July 8, 1951, in Dakota County in Nebraska. He died Sept. 15, 1990, in Sioux City.

She has been a Sioux City resident since 1961, moving here from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Paul and Barbara Willoughby of Hawarden, Iowa; a daughter, Grace Valentine of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Marjorie Hughes of Pasadena, Texas; seven grandchildren, Dick, Tania, Mike and Sonia Kingery, Paul Jr. and Frank Willoughby and Colleen Hoffman; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mike; and a granddaughter, Karen Willoughby.
