Irene A. Andersen, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996, at the Matney Morningside Manor following a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Nelson-Berger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Andersen was born June 30, 1908, in Draper, S.D., the daughter of Paul and Sandra (Lee) Anderson. She graduated from high school in 1927. She earned her nursing degree from the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City in 1930. She married Walter P. Andersen. She was employed as head nurse with the Lutheran Hospital for several years, then with Dr.'s Johnson, Sibley, Kelly, and Leafsted until retiring in 1973.

She was a member of the Morningside Lutheran Church, the Pricilla Circle, the Retired Nurses, and the Gospel Mission.

Survivors include a daughter, LaVonne Woodbridge of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Paul Anderson of Murdo, S.D.; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gerald; and her brothers and sisters.
