Mildred Lois 'Mid' Corporon

SIOUX CITY - Mildred Lois "Mid" Corporon, 95, beloved mother of Jean Carol Corporon Huff, devoted wife of Ken Corporon, and treasured grandmother of Peter, Steven, Allen and Cathy, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008 at Holy Spirit Nursing Home. Her love and passion for life live on in the hearts of her family.

Mid was born in Wichita, Kan. on July 5, 1913, the daughter of Edward Carl and Francis Marie Hadler. She graduated from Wichita East High School and attended Wichita State University. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta and Lamba Tau Delta Sororities. Mid's friends in Wichita remained connected with her lifelong.

On Sept. 9, 1934, Mid married Ken Corporon. They began their life together in Wichita where they had two daughters, Jean Carol and Joan Kay. The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1948 for new employment opportunities. Mid and Ken enjoyed golf and dance groups. In 1958, the family moved to Sioux City where Ken became treasurer of Iowa Public Service.

Mid was very active in many Sioux City organizations. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deaconess. Mid belonged to Chapter EY of the P.E.O. where she enjoyed many years of participation. She was on the board of the YWCA and served as president of the Sioux Delphians. Mid was active in the United Fund drives and became chairperson of the Woman's Committee. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.

Mid and Ken spent many years in California after Ken retired. They traveled within the United States as well as to many countries. They were married 72 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean and her fiance, George Larvick; three grandsons, Peter James Huff and his wife, Kathleen of Austin, Texas, Steven Kenneth Huff and his wife, Tracy of Yankton, S.D., and Allen Corporon Huff and his wife, Monica of Wellington, Colo.; a granddaughter, Cathleen Kay Larson and her husband, Russ of Yankton; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Maxton, Hudson, Abby, Olivia and Addison.

Mid was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her daughter, Joan Kay Cone; Mid's sister, Ruth; and her brother, Raymond.

Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Church, Holy Spirit Nursing Home and Hospice of Siouxland, all in Sioux City
