SIOUX CITY - Thomas Ralph Blakeley, 67, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Tom was cremated under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Tom was born Aug. 21, 1941, to Ralph C. and Mary Alice (Scranton) Blakeley. He worked in the car rental industry for years in San Francisco, Honolulu, Los Angeles and Simi Valley, helping Budget Rent-A-Car and Dollar Rent-A-Car become worldwide companies. Because Tom treated everyone so well, he was fortunate to count Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand and other celebrities as clients. Tom and his wife, Sharon moved to Sioux City in October 2000. He started working at Menards in the kitchen appliance department in March 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bob Stark of Piano, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Staci Blakeley of Sioux City; a stepson, Jimmy Fitzgerald of Honolulu; five grandchildren, Kelly and Lori Stark, Thomas and Kamdyn Blakeley and Jacob Fitzgerald; and brothers, John Blakeley and Rick Blakeley.
