SIOUX CITY -Naomi Esther Anderson, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service; at 7 p.m., at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Naomi was born Dec, 21, 1922 in Newton, Kan., the daughter of Raymond K. and Minnie I. (Bauman) Church. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1941. She moved to Washington, D.C. after graduation, then returned to Sioux City in 1945. Naomi married Harry V. Anderson on April 6, 1945 in Sioux City. He died Dec. 2, 1996 in Sioux City.

Naomi was a homemaker and housewife. She also worked as a clerk and typist for the Woodbury County Community Action Agency for 13 years. She retired in 2003.

Naomi was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and the Martha Church Circle. She was also the treasurer for the VFW Auxiliary from 1981 to 2008. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, working in her yards, being outdoors and crocheted.

Survivors include three sons, Lyle Anderson of Farmersville, Texas, Rocky Anderson and his wife Barb of Jefferson, S.D. and Edwin Anderson and his wife Ann of Craig, Colo.; two daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Dave Novotny of Bozeman, Mont, and Nancy and Ken Keairns of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jenny Mansfield, Mollie Armstrong, Dustin Dodge and Arianna Anderson; four great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Bill and Gloria Church of Yakima, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Helen Church of Milwaukee, Wis. and one brother-in-law, George Reynolds of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Raymond Church and one sister Helen Reynolds.

Pallbearers will be Ken Keairns, Dave Novotny, Dustin Dodge, Shawn Mansfield, Dwight Boetger and Preston DeZeeuw.

Memorials may be directed to Riverside United Methodist Church.
