Lillian R. Gabriel

SIOUX CITY - Lillian R. Gabriel, 84, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at a Sioux City care center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 2101 Jackson Street, with the Rev. Andy Anderson and Captain Von Vandiver officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Lillian was born in Strasburg, N.D., on Jan. 8, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Mary A. (Holtzer) Giesinger.

She was married to Anton Gabriel in 1943. They moved to Sioux City in 1851. She retired from Aalfs Manufacturing on July 27, 1990, after 16 years.

She was a member of The Salvation Army.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Lewis and Cathy Gabriel of Rapid River, Mich., and David and Christy Gabriel of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Jean Noe of Tucson, Ariz., and Pam and her husband, Skippy Hankins, of Homer, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Dee Gabriel of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton; three sons, Arnold, Richard and Norman; two granddaughters; four brothers; and two sisters.
