SIOUX CITY - Ann B. Greenberg, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, May l, 2009, at her residence after a long illness.

Memorial services will be 9:45 a.m. Monday at Congregation Beth Shalom, with Rabbi Guy Greene officiating. Public graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyer-broschapels.com.

Ann was born June 14, 1929, in Lodi, Wis., the daughter of Edward and Esther (Kurtrig) Barkin. She grew up in Lodi and attended schools there. She graduated from Lodi High School and the University of Wisconsin with a degree in social work.

She married Raymond I. Greenberg on June 28, 1953. in Lodi, Wis. Ray died April 3, 2007, in Sioux City. Ann came to Sioux City in 1953 and taught nursery school at the Jewish Federation. Ann and Ray were longtime owners of Greenberg Jewelry Co. and expanded the company to several locations over the years.

Ann was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, Hadassah and the Sisterhood. The Family Center for Labor & Delivery at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center was named after Ann and Ray Greenberg, and they were very involved in the Children's Miracle Network at St. Luke's. Ann enjoyed golfing and dancing.

Survivors include three daughters, Elise Greenberg-Kreisberg and her husband, Howard of Sioux City, Amy Greenberg-Sachnoff and her husband, Scott of Sioux City, and Louise Freeman and her husband, Bob of Joliet, Ill.; six grandchildren, Alexa and Jordan Kreisberg, Josh and Allison Sachnoff, Stacie and Ben Freeman; and a sister, Paulyne Raemer of Needham, Mass.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; a sister, Doris Zeiger; and two brothers, Lou and Bernie Barkin.

Pallbearers will be Howard and Jordan Kreisberg, Scott and Josh Sachnoff, Ben and Bob Freeman and Tom Barkin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Congregation Beth Shalom, Hospice of Siouxland or the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
