Evelyn G.(Vondrak) Hansen

SIOUX CITY - Evelyn G. (Vondrak) Hansen, 88, formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully April 29, 2009, at her home in Petaluma, Calif.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway in Petaluma. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.

Evelyn was a native of Sioux City. She married Clark E. Hansen on June 6, 1943, at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind. The couple moved to Petaluma in 1945. She worked for many years at Hamilton Air Force Base and Mare Island as a keypunch operator.

Evelyn was a member of St. James Parish, was involved with the Hospice Bereavement group and a volunteer at the Kaiser Clinic in Petaluma. She was very family oriented and was always involved in the activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of the late Clark E. Hansen, loving mother of Vernon C. Hansen and his wife, Kathy and Beverly J. Deniz and her husband, Ernest, all of Petaluma; cherished grandmother of Kevin Soper, Lucas Deniz and his wife, Lisa, Becky Deniz, Vicky Deniz Prior and her husband, Frank, Edward Deniz, Shay Hansen Ribeiro and her husband, Mark and Chad Hansen; beloved great-grandmother of Kristina Soper, Steven Soper, Darren Deniz, Emily and Abigail Prior; loving sister of Phil Vondrak and Florence Schroeder, both of Iowa, and the late Francis, Gilbert, Harold, Eldon, Floyd, Donald Vondrak, Shirley Clarey, Gladys Niles and Lucien Maxey. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family prefers memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma, St. James Church Building Fund or the donor's charity of choice.
