SIOUX CITY - Gladys Aileen Stalberg, formerly of Sioux City, died April 2, 2009, in Redmond, Ore.

Abiding by her wishes, the body was cremated. There were no services.

Gladys was born July 27, 1927, in Sioux City, one of five girls born to Andy and Katie Holme. After graduating from Leeds High School, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she met her future husband, Herman Reimers Stalberg.

After their marriage, the couple moved to the greater San Francisco Bay area. They lived in Redwood City, Monterey, Santa Clara and Morgan Hill, Calif. Following her retirement, she moved to central Oregon and lived in Albany, Bend and finally Redmond.

She is survived by her children, Christian Stalberg of Hurdle Hills, N.C., Christina Taylor of Corvallis, Ore., and Andrew Stalberg of Terrebonne, Ore.; her sisters, Norma Crowe of Wilsonville, Ore., Edith Spicer of Smyrna, Tenn., and Andrea Buenzli of Henderson, Nev.; and six grandchildren.
