SIOUX CITY - Diane Middleton, 59, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly June 1, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with Pastor Kathy Olson officiating. A private family burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Wednesday, with the family present, at the funeral home.

Diane was born on Aug. 26, 1949, in Sioux City, to William B. and Mildred M. (Barnes) Fritz. She received her education in Leeds before entering the work force as a secretary for the J. Allen Orr Law Firm for six years. Diane then worked for the state of Iowa, working with children who had suffered from abusive situations. She then began her career with the Sioux City Public Schools in 1992, working at Hawthorne Elementary School as an aide and sharing some secretarial duties until 2008.

Diane enjoyed staying connected with friends and family by sharing news through her e-mails.

Survivors include her daughter, Chandra Middleton; brothers, Glenn Fritz and his wife, Janice and Art Fritz and his wife, Sandra; a sister-in-law, Beverly Fritz, all of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl and George; and a sister, Irma Harris.
