SIOUX CITY -- Maxine B. McFadden, 83, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.

Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church in Des Moines. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel in Des Moines.

Maxine was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Alexander and Bessie (Boyce) McCabe. She moved from Sioux City to Des Moines in 1954. She retired from Equitable of Iowa in 1982, where she was a secretary for 27 years.

She was a member of St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church. She loved her family dearly and was always looking out for the needs of others.

She is survived by her son, James K. McFadden of Des Moines; a granddaughter, Chelsi McFadden of Des Moines; a grandson, Conner Roth of Granger, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James L. McFadden; and a brother, Donald McCabe.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bishop Drumm Care Center and Iowa Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Maxine.
