SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Marcia L. Fischer, 59, of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with chaplain Stacey Gerhart officiating. Private graveside services will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Marcia was born Oct. 7, 1949, in Sioux City, the daughter of Arndt I. and Margaret H. (Spaustat) Gunderson. She married John L. Fischer on May 1, 1970, in Elk Point, S.D.

She was an artistic person and a master gardener. She loved her flowers, the sunshine and collecting rocks and cook books. She enjoyed NASCAR, Nebraska football and sharing time with her family and grandchildren. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Donald and Tressa Fischer of South Sioux City; two daughters, Kimora Fischer and her partner, Danielle Calhoon and Lisa and her husband, Bruce Albertsen, all of South Sioux City; three brothers, Michael (Barbara) Gunderson of Sioux City, Arny (Velma) Gunderson of Axtell, Neb., and Doug Gunderson of Sioux City; three sisters, Carlajane Hodge of Des Moines, Alma Gunderson and Lillian Gunderson, both of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Kenneth (Kyla) Fischer, Mandy and Kodi Fischer and Steven and Nicole Pierce; two great-grandchildren, Stevie Lynn and Randi Marie Fischer; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John on Sept. 22, 2005 in South Sioux City; her parents; and a grandson, Johnathan Fischer.
