SIOUX CITY -- Rita Marie Johnson, 62, of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, entered into rest Monday, April 6, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private ceremony has been planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Omega Society Mortuary in Santa Ana, Calif.

Rita was born May 13, 1946. She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Johnson on June 8, 1971, in Sioux City.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Richard Johnson of Fullerton; five daughters, Paula (Michael) Schreck of Hinton, Iowa, Tari (Ed) Walner of Whittier, Calif., Julie (Tom) Fergen of Sioux City, Angel (Arnulfo) Hernandez of Sioux City and April (Kurtis) Krieger of South Sioux City; three sons, Patrick (Felipa) Johnson of Wisconsin, Richard (Lori) Johnson of Sioux City and James (Sue) Johnson of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association in honor of Rita Johnson.
