SIOUX CITY -- Sarah S. Mims, 86, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel in Dallas, Texas. Interment will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.

Sarah was born July 22, 1922. She grew up in Sioux City and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and resided in Dallas most of her life.

Sarah received her bachelor of arts from the University of Southern California and after receiving her teacher's certificate, spent her early years as an elementary school teacher.

She was an active member of Pi Phi Sorority, a member of Junior League and a patron of the Dallas Opera. She was a benefactor to St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Sarah handled oil and gas mineral interests given to her by her husband and distributed that wealth throughout the family. She also participated with and contributed to various charitable and philanthropic organizations in her lifetime. She loved to ballroom dance.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Cusack of Del Rio, Texas; two sons, Syl Cusack and John Cusack, both of Dallas; grandchildren, Sonny Satterlee and Leah, Georgia, Nora and Nathan Cusack; and five great-grandchildren, Sonny, Savannah and Zachary Satterlee, Dylan Roche and Scarlet Chandler.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mims; a daughter, Katy Cusack; and a brother, Robert Sammons.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the medical caregivers who made Sarah's final years of life as safe, happy, meaningful and comfortable as possible.
