SOUTH SIOUX CITY (Died Sioux City)-- Geraldine E. Stewart, 85, of South Sioux City passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Geraldine was born on Aug. 28, 1923, in South Sioux City, to George Henry and Lennie L. (Wood) Powell. She attended South Sioux City Schools and was a lifetime resident of South Sioux City. On Jan. 31, 1942, she was married to David W. Stewart Sr. in South Sioux City. To this union, five children were born. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.

She is survived by her five children, David (Dorothy) Stewart Jr. of South Sioux City, Carolyn (William) Parrott of South Sioux City, Nancy (LeRoy) Luesebrink of Homer, Neb., Terry Stewart of Wynot, Neb., and Susan (Tom) Dahl of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margie and Betty.
