1 April 2009SIOUX CITY -- David Koson, 44, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009, of cancer at his residence, with his family present.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at John A. Gentleman Chapel, 1010 N. 72nd Street in Omaha. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Omaha. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Dave was born July 14, 1964, in Sioux City. He graduated from North High School in 1982. He spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Lance Corporal. He was a member of the Marine escort that participated in ceremonies when the bodies of the Beirut bombing arrived in the U.S.
He worked for Sioux Tools in Sioux City. He later went to work for the city of Omaha. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Patty of Omaha; his father, Stephen Koson Sr. of Sioux City; a son, Taylor Koson of Little Sioux, Iowa; stepchildren, Don Krisor Jr. and Sarah Krisor; four grandchildren, Shane, Adriana, Daniel and Kaylinn; a brother, Steve Jr. (Marilyn) Koson of Omaha; a sister, Theresa (Gary) Hayes of Sioux City; nieces, Jennifer Koson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Malina Lamoureux of Sioux City; and a nephew, Brandon Hayes of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Marie Koson.
