SOUTH SIOUX CITY ( Died Sioux City) -- John E. "Moon" Mullins, 56, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stanley Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

John was born Dec. 25, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Richard P. and Joy E. (Dempsey) Mullins. He graduated from South Sioux City High School. He married Michelle L. Dohlman-Schroeder. He was employed with various construction companies. Due to ill health, he retired in 1999.

He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. John loved fishing and spending time with his family, especially his son, Johnny.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Mullins of South Sioux City; three sisters, Judy Winders of Arkansas, Marilyn and her husband, Bernie Young of Leonard, Texas, and Jerrian and her husband, Tommy Wilson of McKinney, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Williams.
