SIOUX CITY -- Glenn Edward Coleman, 67, of Sioux City died Friday, March 27, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Church of Christ, with Pastors Matt Wentz and Derek Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Glenn was born March 8, 1942, in Austin, Minn., the son of Edward S. and Edythe (Sweazey) Coleman. He lived in Austin until the age of 11, when he moved to Sioux City. He graduated from East High School in 1960, and also attended Morningside College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served two tours in Vietnam. In 1968, he returned to Sioux City after the service.

On May 26, 1972, he married Kathryn "Kathy" Kennett in Sergeant Bluff. Glenn worked as a pipe fitter and welder for many years. In 1983, he went to work for A.I.R. at Wells Blue Bunny in Le Mars, Iowa. He retired in 2003.

He was a member of Morningside Church of Christ and was very active at the church. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 18/33. Glenn enjoyed going fishing and gardening but what he loved most was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Sioux City; his son and his wife, Dean and Delia of Ankeny, Iowa; his daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Kevin Koch of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Aliza and Michaela; four sisters, Daphene and John Sturgis of Sioux City, Wanda and Gary Lundeen of Glen Haven, Conn., Linda and Terry Sigaty of Sioux City, and Deborah and Robert Hust of Deer Lodge, Mont.; a brother, Ronald and Christine Coleman of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant child; and two sisters, Vira Bailey and Dawnene McKenzie.
