Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Craig Bock officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Margaret was born July 17, 1916, in Neenah, Wis., the daughter of Carl and Olive F. (Dubertine) Boyer. She came to Sioux City as a child and attended Central High School.

She married Thomas E. "Tom" Garoutte. He died in 1963, in Sioux City. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in Sioux City.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Her friends called her Peggy, which meant that was how most people knew her. A life spent openly loving others without reservation or judgement brought brightness, warmth and comfort into countless lives. She lived with the Grace of God and shared that with a smile that blessed everyone she met. She will be missed on this earth, but the love that came from her and through her has already transcended generations.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick and his wife, Julie of Sioux City and Daniel and his companion, Nancy Wright-Clapson of Shellsburg, Iowa; three grandchildren, Tim Garoutte and his fiancee, Jennifer McClendon, Aaron and his fiancee, Julene Davis and Ryan Summers; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl "Bud" Boyer of Atchison, Kan.; and a sister, Grayce and Bernie Uhl of Moville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two half brothers, Don and Dick Francis.

A memorial has been established in her name for Teens Encounter Christ, in care of the family.
