MERRILL, Iowa ( Died Sioux City)-- Allen A. "Bud" Schultz, 60, of Merrill passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Le Mars Bible Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Fred Gums officiating. Burial will be in Stanton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Condolences may be sent online to www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Allen A. "Bud" Schultz was born April 15, 1948, in Le Mars to Alfred C. and Esther (Jurczewsky-Johnson) Schultz. He attended country school near the family farm. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School with the class of 1966. Following high school, he studied auto mechanics at the Universal Trade School in Omaha. He worked for Well's Blue Bunny in the milk plant from 1991 to 2004.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. He enjoyed living on his acreage and raising cattle and sheep. He was a very gentle man who will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Survivors include a sister, Susan, and her husband, Lee Whitt, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two brothers, Maynard Johnson and his wife, Virg, of Le Mars and Gerald Johnson of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; two nieces, Debra and her husband, Bob Fuller, and Sheila and her husband, Robert Williams, all of Le Mars; two nephews, Roland Whitt of Lenexa, Kan., and Byron Whitt and his wife, Mary, of Olathe, Kan.; four grandnephews; two grandnieces; three great-grandnieces; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred C. and Esther (Jurczewsky-Johnson) Schultz; and a sister, Shirley.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Schultz, Leland Schultz, Andy C. Schultz, Donald Schultz, Lance Schultz and Derald Philips.
