SOUTH SIOUX CITY (Buried Sioux City)-- Marcella E. Lindquist, 86, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at a South Sioux City care center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jerry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Marcella was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Waterbury, Neb., the daughter of Thorwold W. and Christine (Luehr) Rasmussen. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1940.

She married William Lee on June 15, 1950, they worked in Ord, Neb., then in Washington, D.C. until returning to South Sioux City in 1965.

After William's death, she then married Conrad E. Lindquist on June 9, 1967, in South Sioux City. He died Dec. 10, 1985, in Sioux City. She was employed many years at the Dakota County Star until her retirement.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and an active volunteer. She was an active member of the South Sioux City Eagles Club.

Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Milt Peters and Leola Sipe, all of South Sioux City and Ellen and Harold Karrer of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Beverly Rasmussen of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Rasmussen; and a sister, Edna Heeney.

Pallbearers will be Maurice Smith, Kevin and Jim Heeney, Craig Jones, Dean Steffensmeier and Mark Karrer.
