She was an extremely smart woman with a great memory. She loved crossword puzzles, watching current events and spending time with her beloved dog, Bunny.

Survivors include her daughter, Johneen Newberg of Hinton, Iowa; her son, Daniel and wife, Jillann Bolshaw of Omaha; eight grandchildren, Katie and husband, Neal Opitz, Lisa Bolshaw, Sarah and husband, David Howe, Adam Bolshaw, Aaron and wife, Carrie Bolshaw, Melissa Newberg and husband, Laurence Lencki, Eric and wife, Lori Newberg, and Rebecca and husband, Leland May; 11 great-grandchildren, Addie, Oscar and Finneas Opitz, Sam and Anna Bolshaw, Hayley and Hunter Howe, Jennifer and John Newberg and Hanna and Hailey May; three sisters, Frankie Marshall, Merle Carrilo and Romelle Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathleen; her husband, John, who passed away two months after their daughter, Kathleen; and two sisters, Harriet Barclay and MaryAnn Chwirka.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of Siouxland.
