SIOUX CITY -- Mildred M. Cornils, 96, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at a care facility in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Bock of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Mildred was born July 30, 1912, in Bronson, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Edna (Prynn) Kamm. She attended country school and graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1930.

She married Henry Cornils on Jan. 8, 1938, in Sioux City. He passed away May 14, 1979. She was a life long resident of the family farm until 1979, when she moved to the Morningside area. She was a life long resident of the Siouxland area. She was a farmer's wife and a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, shopping, feeding everyone, dancing, social outings, family gatherings and baby sitting the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, LeAnn and Don Hurlbut of Le Mars, Iowa; grandchildren, Sheryl and Brad Brooks of Merrill, Iowa, and Randy Hurlbut of Newton, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Tonya Brooks of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Korey Brooks of St. Cloud, Minn., and Kolin Brooks of Merrill.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Edward.
