4 February 2009SIOUX CITY -- Roseanna Monell, 77, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at her daughter's residence in Sioux City.
Private family services and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.
Roseanna Woten was born Nov. 20, 1931, to Loren and Ethel Mae (Vance) Woten in Macy, Neb. She attended school in Walthill, Neb.
On Aug. 25, 1950, she and Steve Monell were married in Dakota City.
She was a member of Word of Life Church, where she played the guitar and sang. She was a member of the IRIS Club, Goodwill Ladies Auxiliary and the Sioux City Country Music Association.
She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and embroidering. She was a good cook and was constantly baking. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed her flower garden and trips to the country to see the wildlife and scenery. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorna and her husband, Larry Goetschius of Sioux City; her son, Steve Monell Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Fort Collins, Colo.; a son, Mike Monell and his wife, Christina of Sioux City; a daughter, Rosemary and her husband, Myron Sands of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Rager of Sioux City; a brother, John Woten Jr. of South Sioux City; a sister, Retha Curry of South Sioux City; a sister, Charlotte Teeters of Decatur, Neb.; a brother, Loren Woten Jr. of South Sioux City; a sister, Mary Monell of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Marjorie Sparks of Texarkana, Ark.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve; a daughter, Vicki White; and sisters, Iona and Patricia.
