26 December 1942John Otto Fruechtenicht, 66, of 2520 Geneva Street, died in a hospital Friday evening after a long illness.
Mr. Fruechtenicht, a former LeMars teacher, was born November 9, 1876, in Dixon, Illinois. His boyhood was spent at LeMars and since 1903 he had lived in Sioux City. He was a member of Columbia Lodge 13, Knights of Pythias.
Surviving are his widow, Nellie, three sons, Alvin of Chicago, J. R. Fruechtenicht of Sioux City and Russell of Los Angeles; daughter, Mrs. Bernice Chnubb of Oakland, California; a brother, William of St. Joseph, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Tritz of Estherville, Iowa and Mrs. Tillie Gurig of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Anderson’s Chapel. Rev. Arthur Dyson of Crescent Park Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in a LeMars Cemetery. The Knights of Pythias will have charge of a graveside ritual.
