William C. Zarr Funeral Services Held Wednesday
Funeral services for William C. Zarr were held Wednesday after noon, Jan. 15, at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Arthur Dyson of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Don Michaelson sang “In the Garden, .0ld Rugged Cross and Rock of Ages.” by Mrs. Paul Anderson at the piano. Mrs. Wm. Wochler and Mrs. Arthur Morgan cared for the flowers. The cars were arranged by Stoltz Hart. Relatives of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery.
The following obituary was read by Rev. Arthur Dyson at the funeral services:
William Calvin Zarr, son of Wilson and Elizabeth Clara Ritter Zarr, was born August 21, 1882 in Dubuque county, Iowa and passed away at this home in Correctionville on Sunday, January 12, 1947 at the age of 64 years.
He came to Correctionville about 27 years ago, and has lived around Correctionville and Washta most of his life. He began his adult life as a farmer at Correctionville and later was a rural mail carrier for 25 years, retiring about two years ago. His health began to fail about 12 years ago and the fatal sickness began last Tuesday evening, January 7.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Leona Smith of Cherokee on June 11, 1912 at Chero0kee and to this union eight children were born; one son and four daughters survive. Three children died infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Leona: one son, Calvin Boyd of San Diego, Calif., four daughters, Mrs. Rachael Heath of Correctionville; Rebekah of Cherokee and Doris and Vivian at home; two grandsons and an adopted grandson; also three brothers, Ivan K. of Vivian, S. D.; Jared W. of Cheroke3e, and Archie of Washta; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hollenbeck of Royal; Mrs. Carrie Molyneux of Miller, S. D. and Mrs. Neva Klein of Orange City and a large number of nieces and nephews.
