Wm. Zarr Loses Father
The father of William Zarr of Correctionville parsed away at his home in Washta Saturday. A kind and loving father his passing will be a great loss to his family and friends.
Wilson Zarr, son of Washington and Merina Zarr, was born Doc. 27, 1856, at. Worthington, Iowa. He grew to manhood there. On Oct. 20, 1881, he was united in marriage to Clara Ritter. The first year the couple lived on his father’s farm at Worthington, then moved to his father-in-law ’s farm near Cascade. In February 1890, they moved to a farm southwest of Washta where they resided until 1901 when they moved to their farm in Cherokee county. In March 1919, they moved to their home in Washta.
Mr. Zarr was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Among his dearest possessions Is a Bible, which was given to him by his Sunday school teacher for learning the greatest number of memory verses. At the age of 21, he united with the German Reformed church in Spring Valley. He remained true to this faith until the end.
He Is survived by his eight children: William Calvin of Correctionville, Ivan Kenneth of Vivian, S. D., Mrs. Margaret Hollenbeck, and Jared Washington of Cherokee, Mrs. Carrie Molyneux of Miller, S. D., Mrs. Nova Klein of Orange City, Judd Archie and Verna of Washta; 28 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His wife preceded him in death January 30, 1938.
Mr. Zarr passed peacefully away at his home on January 18, 1941, a t the age of S4 years and 21 day.
