Janice Rebekah Zarr

Janice Rebekah Zarr, 76, of Cherokee, died Saturday, November 22,1997 at Hilltop Care Center, Cherokee, IA. Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 26, 1:30 p.m., Correctionville cemetery, Correctionville, IA, with Rev. Consorcia A. Sanchez presiding. Burial was under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, Correctionville.

Ms. Zarr was born m May 20,1921, Correctionville, the daughter of William Calvin Zarr and Bertha Leona Smith. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1936 and attended NBT in Sioux City for one year. During World War II Janice was employed at the Defense Plant in Battle Creek, Michigan. Following the war, she went to work as. a clerk at the Woolworth Department Store in Cherokee, IA. She worked there for many years until it closed. Janice then worked at Speelman's Steakhouse in Cherokee as a waitress. She loved to read and to study family history

Survivors include a brother, Calvin (Cal) Zarr of Centerville, Virginia; two sisters, Doris Briese of Sioux City, IA and Vivian Mitchell of Corpus Chnsti, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rachel Heath.
