Robert F. Kern
Robert F. Kern, 49, died Thursday at a Veterans Administration hospital in Sturgis, S.D., after a long illness.
Mr. Kern was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Norfolk, Neb. He had been resident of Sioux City for several years and was a car inspector for the Chicago & North Western Railway Co. He served in the Army during World War 2.
Survivors include two sons, Roger and Robert, both of Omaha; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Foldenauer of Sioux City; a brother, Art of Westfield, Iowa; and four sisters, Saunders of Orange City Iowa; Mrs. William Nafle of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Nona Fickett and Mrs. Oscar Peterson, both of Sioux City.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home, with the Rev. H. H. Schauland, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Reisdorph, Earl Kirschner, Orville Sherrill, Charles Brinley, Tom Brown and Don Peterson.
