Clara Alice Burris, 90, of Sioux City died Monday November 8, 1999 at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Petersen of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burris was born August 5, 1909 in Soldier, Iowa the daughter of Johannes E. and Mathilde (Christiansen) Olson.

She was raised in Soldier and attended a country school near Soldier. She later moved to Sioux City.

She married Merle H. Burris Sr. on September 5, 1927 in Sioux City. He died May 27, 1992 in Sioux City.

She was employed with T.S. Martin’s Department Store and Younkers.

She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and Siouxland Senior Center.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Merle Jr. and Verna of Sioux City, a brother, Oscar Olson of Sioux City, three grandchildren, Bradley and Jeffrey Burris and Sherrie Schol; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Erlzie Cook and Margaret Burris, both of Sioux City and many nieces and nephews.
