25 November 1999Johanna Christine Bishop, 56, of Sioux City died Monday, November 22, 1999, at her residence following a long illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, the Rev. Paul Louis Arts, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Bishop was born December 9, 1942 in Sioux City, the daughter of Alvin Lewis and Lillian Irene (Peterson) McKnight. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City elementary schools and South Sioux City High School. She graduated in 1980 from Western Iowa Tech Community College with a degree in industrial engineering building maintenance.
She married John F. Bishop August 29, 1959 in Sioux City. She lived in Sioux City from 1942 until 1963. She lived in Omaha from 1963 until 1974 and then moved back to Sioux City.
She has worked at the Sunrise Retirement Community for six years.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include her husband; one son, John and his wife, Sally of Omaha, one daughter, Joanna T. Abramo and her husband, Michael, of Sioux City; one brother, Cyril McKnight of Sioux City; four sisters, Karen McGregor, Aloha Grant, Shirley Ult Deflesch and Tonja Stoddard all of Sioux City; five grandchildren; John Bishop III, Jana Bishop, Jessie Abramo, Jennie Abramo and Zachary Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
