Wayne, Nebraska—Marion Evelyn McDermott, 76, of Wayne died Friday, November 12, 1999, at her daughter’s residence in Sioux City.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne, with the Revs. Martin Russell and William Koeber officiating. Burial will be in Greenwod Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of Schumacher- Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.

Mrs. Mcdermott ws born September 29, 1923 in South Sioux City, the daughter of George W. and Besse (Sheldon) Leamer. She graduated from South Sioux City High School 19 1941. She attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Creighton University School of Law, Omaha.

She was admitted to the Nebraska Bar in 1948.

She married Charles Everett McDermott of Holstein, Iowa on February 7, 1948 in Sioux City. In 1948, the couple moved to Wayne where they practiced law together. He died in 1993. She continued working until recently.

She was a member of Our savior Lutheran Church, P.E.O., Alpha Chi Omega, Nebraska State Bar Association and Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Father Thomas McDermott, O.P., of Lagos, Nigeria; a daughter and her husband, Lesa McDermott and Douglas Hodgins of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Norris G. and Beth Leamer of Pierce, Nebraska; a brother-in-law and his wife, Harold and Joan McDermott of Sioux City and several nieces and nephews.
