Ruby Reed, age 74, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Sloan, Iowa passed away Friday, October 11, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.

Ruby Bernice Reed was born November 24, 1927 in Hornick, Iowa the daughter of Wesley and Esther (Kendall) Jones. She was raised in Hornick Iowa and graduated from the Hornick High School. She was united in marriage to Darrell “Pete” Reed in 1955. After their marriage they lived in Sloan, Iowa. Ruby lived in Sloan until three years ago when she moved to Red Oak, Iowa.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell Reed and a brother Leon Jones.

Survivors include her two brothers; Lavern Jones and his wife Joyce of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Joseph Jones and special friend Anita Smith of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services were held at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2002. Words of Comfort were brought by Rev. JoAnn Thomas, Pastor First Christian Church. Taped music selections were “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Interment was in the Climbing Hill Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa.
