19 May 2004Vernon E. “Bud” Harder, 77, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, died at his home on Tuesday, March 23, 2004.
A memorial service was held April 1 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch.
Inurnment was at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
Vernon was born March 4, 1927 in Anthon, Iowa to Edward and Dorothy Harder. Following graduation from Anthon Public Schools in 1944, he served in the U.S. Navy. He received a degree from Wayne State College in 1949 and coached at Correctionville for two years.
The Harder family lived in Kingsley from 1951 – 57.
Bud taught and coached football, girls’ basketball and track. During the summers he managed and was a catcher on the Kingsley Semi-pro Baseball Team. He retired as an administrator from the Littleton, Colorado Schools in 1986.
Survivors include Virginia Harder; his children, Kent Harder, Brad Harder, Maribeth Pethoud; three grandchildren and six of his eight brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Pat Harder.
