26 March 1997Jimmie Duane Lee, 61, of rural Salix, Iowa, died Thursday, March 13, 1997, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Lee was born November 14, 1935 at Sloan, Iowa, the son of Merlin G. and Margie M. (Larson) Lee. He graduated from Sloan High School in 1954. On May 24, 1955 he married Caryl Whitney at Sloan. Mr. Lee was a lifelong farmer in the Sloan and Salix area. He was also employed by Shaff, Inc. in Sioux City for 28 years.
He was a member of Skien Lutheran Church and served on the Farmers Coop Elevator Board at Salix from 1985 to present.
He is survived by his wife, Caryl; two sons, Bob and his special friend, Dawn and her son, Chris and dan and his wife, Barb, all of Salix; one daughter and her husband, Diann and Mike Bohall of Salix; his mother, Margie Lee of Sloan; 8 grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Ashton, Austin, Casey and Becky Lee and Marcus and Michala Bohall; one sister and her husband, Bonnie and Charles “Dick” Stevenson of Onawa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 15, 1997 at Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa, with Rev. Peter V. Boe officiating. The organist was Mrs. Jon Roarson and the Congregational hymns were, “Jesus, Name Above All Names”, “Glorify Thy Name”, and “Amazing Grace.”
Honorary Bearers were Aaron Lee, Ashton Lee, Adam Lee, Austin Lee, Casey Lee, Marcus Bohall and Chris Holsinger.
Casket Bearers were Tom Solien, John Hollenbeck, Wayne Copple, Harold Rodman, Jerry Stoulp and Jon Roarson.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
