Michael D. Weyen was born July 28, 1969 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Ron and Peg (Lantaff) Weyen. He died March 24, 2009, at the age of 39 years, 7 months and 24 days at his home in Sloan, IA due to natural causes.

Mike graduated from Alcester High School in 1987. He attended Vo-Tech school in Granite Falls, MN for one year. He returned to Alcester and farmed with his dad. He has farmed and resided in Sloan, IA for the past several years.

Mike was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. His hobbies and interests included fanning, tractor pulling, snowmobiling, cooking and barbecuing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved animals, especially his dog Chloe.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and a sibling in infancy.
His survivors include his parents Ron and Peg Weyen of Alcester; three sisters: Rhonda Jurgensen and husband Jamie of Alcester, Kate Weyen (Mary Beth) of Sioux Falls, and Mary Vander Laan and husband Todd of Beresford; brother Randy Weyen and wife Jeanne of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Beresford, with burial at Emmett Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford.

Visitation will be Friday at the church from 4 PM to 8 PM with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a wake service beginning at 7 p.m.
