24 April 1997Clifford H. Watt, 87, of Sioux City died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Elwood Rieke, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Triangle Masonic Lodge 643 A.F.& A.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Watt was born January 18, 1910, in Sioux City, the son of Christian and Christina (Peterson) Watt. He attended Trinity Prep School in Sioux City. He served in the Army National Guard during World War I.
He married Agnes J. Moen on March 28, 1934, in Sioux City. He owned and operated Watt’s Market in Leeds with his father for over 50 years. He then worked for the Sioux City Health Department for 13 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Triangle Masonic Lodge 643 A.F.&A.M. where he served as past master. He was past president of the Iowa Retail Grocers Association. He was an active member and former president of the Crystal Rhythm Dance Club and a member of S.C.O.R.E.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Tom and Jacque of Waterloo, Iowa, Dick and Judy of Des Moines, Iowa and Jeff and Linda of Sioux City; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Thoma.
A memorial has been established to the First Lutheran Church or to the Triangle Masonic Lodge.
