Raymond John Curtain, 82, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005 at St. Joseph Cathedral. A Liturgical Wake Service was held on Thursday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Raymond was born November 27, 1922 in Anthon, Iowa to John and Marie (McCarty) Curtain. He grew up and attended school near Oto, Iowa, graduating from Oto High School in 1940. He started farming on his own after graduating from High School. He was drafted into the United States Army October 3, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa and was honorably discharged in May 1947.

Raymond married Maxine Holcomb on May 19, 1948 in Sioux City.

He started working for Baking Company in 1953. Raymond became Branch Manager/Supervisor for their Wonder Bread Baking Company in Sioux Falls. He retired from Wonder Bread in 1982 and started working for Sunshine Foods where he worked for 13 years until his retirement.

Raymond was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis West Club.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, his children, Brian (Mary Jo) Curtain of St. Paul, Minnesota, Linda Rath of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bruce Curtin of Skokie, Illinois, Rex Curtin of Sioux Falls, Maureen Curtin of Sioux Falls, Sharon (Mark) Hoiland of Sioux Falls and Paul (Julie) Curtin of Sioux Falls; a sister Helen Rath of Merril, Iowa; seven grandchildren and special friend of the family, Daniel Mosher.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
