31 January 2009SIOUX CITY -- Louise "Maxine" (Parker) Lukken, 75, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Private family graveside services will be at a later date.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.
Louise Maxine Lindgren was born Dec. 24, 1933, in rural Plymouth County, Iowa, to Nels and Ida (Johnson) Lindgren. She attended schools in rural Plymouth County.
On June 12, 1954, she and George R. Parker were married in Centerville, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Mitzi, Michael and Amy. While the couple resided in Anthon, Iowa, she kept busy raising their children, running the household and helping George in the family business, until their marriage ended. She was very proud to received her general education diploma from Western Iowa Tech Community College while in her 50s. After receiving her general education diploma, she worked for Telequest for 10 years. She later met and married Lemont Lukken.
She loved to cook and being a grandma. She enjoyed her flowers and entertaining family and friends. She was known for her fun-loving banter and had a wry sense of humor. She was the Avon lady in Anthon for years.
She is survived by her daughters, Mitzi McGill and Amy Parker, both of Sioux City; grandsons, Derek McGill and his wife Rachel of West Chester, Ohio, and Cade Parker of Sioux City; her special friend Ronnie Riser of Sioux City; a brother, John Lindgren and his wife Elna of Kingsley, Iowa; a sister, Florence Henry of Alexandria, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael; three brothers; and four sisters.
