ANTHON, Iowa -- Rick M. Dorale, 56, of Anthon died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital from injuries suffered in an accident. He was an organ donor.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., Sioux City. Rick was born June 19, 1952, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Burdell and Marjorie (Blades) Dorale. He grew up on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. He graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1970. He graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1972, where he studied to be a diesel mechanic.

He married Kathie Kruse on April 7, 1973. They later divorced. He was currently sharing his life with Cheryl Hathaway. He farmed in the Anthon area and worked for Hamann-Sauser Implement Company for many years. He was presently employed with Springdale Ready Mix in Sioux City.

While growing up, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He was currently attending Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and giving them suckers out of his pocket. He enjoyed antique tractors, farming and going to rodeos.

Survivors include a son and his wife, David and Stephanie Dorale of Oto, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Courtney and Matt Jackson of Moville, Iowa, and Lindsay and Cory Theeler of Whiting, Iowa; his mother, Marjorie Ohlmeier of Charter Oak; his special friend and companion, Cheryl Hathaway of Anthon; two brothers, Ralph Dorale and his wife, Becky of Charter Oak and Ray Dorale of Ute, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Ruth and Dale Moore of New Sharon, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Isaiah and Madison Dorale, Benton and Elly Jackson and Kinzie Theeler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burdell Dorale; his paternal grandparents, Martin and Viola Dorale; and maternal grandparents, Merritt and Opal Blades.

Pallbearers will be Jerry and Jerome Reicks, Rick McNaughton, Wayne Nielsen, Payne Sargison and Mike Garvey. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Adam, Alex and John Dorale and Eric and Nathan Moore
