William C. "Chuck or Bill" Whitebeaver, 60 of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital. He is now at peace after a long illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ho-Chunk Community Center in Winnebago, with Mr. Larry Payer officiating. Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation will be begin today and continue until service time Thursday at the community center. Arrangements are under the direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program.

Chuck Whitebeaver was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Winnebago, to Wilbur and Wilma (Prophet) Whitebeaver. He attended schools in South Sioux City. He was a lifelong resident of South Sioux City and Sioux City. His military service was from September 1967 to September 1969. For the majority of his service time, he was stationed in Germany with the Military Police Division. He was employed mostly with security positions, his last being for WinnaBingo and WinnaVegas Casino as a security supervisor and director from September 1984 to November 1995.

He was very active in baseball when he was young and fast pitch softball. He played for many years in fast pitch in Sioux City. He also was a avid pool player and he had many trophies to show for it.

Survivors include his father, Wilbur Whitebeaver of Winnebago; his companion of 33 years, Janice Saul of Sioux City; a daughter, Amber Saul of Sioux City; a grandson, Gabe; a brother, Roger (Jenny) Whitebeaver of Sioux City; four sisters, Monica and Wanita Whitebeaver, Wanda (Michael Sr.) John, all of Sioux City and Fay (Louie) Houghton of Winnebago; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Agnes Hinman Whitebeaver and Benjamin and Jessie Baker Prophet; his mother, Wilma Prophet Whitebeaver; and three brothers, Wilbur O., Ronald and Donald Whitebeaver.

Pallbearers will be Duane Rave, Louie Houghton Jr., Larry Payer, Keith Brown Sr., Larry Wood and Donnie Breum. Honorary pallbearers will be Joby Painter, Frank LaMere, Russell DeCora Jr., Coly Brown, Charles Rice and Cory Clausen.
