21 May 2008Dixie Mae Davis, 71, of Hampshire, Ill., formerly of the Sioux City area, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at her residence.
Services were held May 20 in Illinois. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.
Dixie Mae Davis was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jess and Mary (Baurley) Morey.
She married Paul W. Davis on Oct. 4, 1954 in Salix, Iowa. They resided in many different locations across the country from Virginia to Arizona, with stops in Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and her favorite, Butte, Mont. The couple had been residents of Hampshire since 1985, where she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Mo matter where they lived, she had found time to help with youth groups in various churches as well as having taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed playing women's basketball in her younger days, bowling and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Paul; children, Floyd (Cheri) Davis, Roger Davis, Janace Davis and Barbara (Wayne) Barretti; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Keith (Flossie) Morey and Leroy (Darlene) Morey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Leonard Morey.
