21 May 2008Robert G. Eddins, 70, of Sioux City, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Condolences may be sent online to www.mauerjohnsonfh.com.
Robert Glenn Eddins was born May 16, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank W. and Hazel (Welton) Eddins. He was raised and attended school in Cedar Rapids. On March 20, 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on Feb. 5, 1964. He returned to Cedar Rapids and drive a city bus for several years.
In 1990, he met Linda Barreras in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1992, where they currently resided.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, shooting and camping. He also liked to garden and care for his outdoor fish pond. He often played cards with his family and enjoyed role playing games and Playstation. Riding his Harley was a favorite pastime.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Barreras of Sioux City; two sisters, Judith E. and her husband, Hamode Hasson of Cedar Rapids and Janis E. Nielson of Cedar Rapids; a stepson and his wife, Chad and Robin Barreras of Le Mars, Iowa; four nieces, Jolene, Sandy, Cathy and Janet; three nephews, Robert, Mike and Roger; and numerous family and friends.
