Frank E. Bartelt, 68, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at a local hospital following a sudden illness.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City. A private inurnment will be at a later date in Logan Cemetery, Sioux City.

Frank was born on Oct. 7, 1939, in Sioux City to Harry E. and Evelyn (Klemeth) Bartelt. He received his education in the Sioux City Public School System before relocating to Minnesota with his wife, Judy. While in Minnesota, Frank lost Judy, the love-of-his-life, in a tragic auto accident in 1972, and never remarried.

He worked for I.D. S. Corporation in Minneapolis as a loading dock supervisor for 20 years. Following his retirement, Frank returned to Sioux City.

He enjoyed playing cards and traveling and is described by family members as having a heart of gold.

Survivors include his sisters, Mary Dobenspeck of Florida, and Rita Roeder of Sioux City; numerous nieces and nephews and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; and his cat, Nobody, that kept him company for the past nine years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anita Wayman and her husband, Marvin, whom Frank loved as a brother; and a brother, Harry Bartelt Jr.
