SIOUX CITY -- Josephine Alvina Robar, 91, of Sioux City passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Josephine was born March 19, 1917, in Waukegan, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Emilia (Cella) Marre.

She met Jo A. Robar while he was in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Waukegan. They were married Oct. 2, 1943, in Waukegan. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1952, in Sioux City. While living in Waukegan, she worked at the Abbott Labs, where she filled the first vile of penicillin for the military.

After moving to Sioux City, the couple owned and operated Robar's Pest Control until retiring. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She liked to read, quilt and crochet. She also loved to walk and was a great cook. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Robar of Sioux City; grandchildren, Troy Nashleanas and his wife, Kelly of Hinton, Iowa, Todd Nashleanas of Sioux City and Meggen and her husband, Nathan Lloyd of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Jack and Ava Lloyd, Ashley, Ben, Chace, Ross, Brett and Grace Nashleanas; and a sister, Julia Ferrini of Chicago, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jo; a daughter, Jeannine Heaton; brothers, Ray and Paul; and a sister, Milly.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Sioux City Public Library.
