SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Vidal Moreno, 65, of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Revs. Daniel Wittrock and Oscar Perez officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Vidal was born March 25, 1943, in Mexico, the son of Juan and Altagracia (Ramirez) Moreno.

He married Maria Nuno on Nov. 21, 1963, in Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, Mexico. They moved to the Midwest in the 1970s. He was employed with IBP for several years before becoming a union representative for UFCW Local 222 in Sioux City. He retired in 2007.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and UFCW Local 222. He was a hard worker and full of life. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Maria; three sons, Jerry Moreno and his wife, Kathy, Jesse Moreno and Ricardo Moreno, all of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands, Maria and Francisco Tostado of South Sioux City, Myrah and Jerry Favors and Sandra and Rex Mueller, all of Sioux City; 12 grandsons; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jesus; a sister, Amparo; his father-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Jerry, Jesse and Ricardo Moreno, Francisco Tostado, Jerry Favors and Rex Mueller.
