DAKOTA CITY, Neb. -- Lucile Mable Orr, 91, of Vermillion, S.D., formerly of Dakota City, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery.

Mrs. Orr was born July 17, 1911, at Neola, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin A. and Harriet Elva (Mathias) Erven. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1930 and received her college teaching certificate.

She married Clair W. "Ole" Orr on Dec. 22, 1935, in Dakota City. The couple farmed in Dakota County until retiring in 1965 and moving into town. She had taught in rural Dakota County and was the Dakota City librarian from 1966 to 1973.

She was a member of Dakota City United Methodist Church and a former member of the Women of the Church.

Survivors include a sister, Amy Price of Storm Lake, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Connie Woolhiser of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Lori and her husband, Scott Sanford, and Holly Valenguela; six great-grandchildren, Samantha and Corrine Sanford, Kevin, Brittany, Nicole and Bradly Orr; two nieces, Darlene Evans and Debra Osman; and the staff members and friends at Sioux Valley Care Center in Vermillion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ole, on Oct. 20, 1992, in South Sioux City; a son, Bill in 1981; a brother, Robert Erven; and a grandson, Tom Orr.

Pallbearers will be Charles Strong, La Monte Woolhiser, James Graham, Don Larson, Duane and Gordon Piper.
